Arachnophobia

Australia is not a good place for people who don't like spiders...or snakes...or jellyfish...or sharks or any other kind of deadly nature. Check out these pictures..."they're 'butes."

Golden Orb Weaver

Evidence of a Funnel Web (arguably the world's deadliest spider)

Golden Orb Weaver

Jerry Garcia Gibbon (not its real name)...not so deadly.

The stage is set...

...and nobody here cares. Ok...one middle aged Asian man cares...but that's it. Sarah and I went to Hooters in Rosehill to watch one of the more exciting endings to a NFL game that I've seen in a long time, and there was only one other guy watching. Crazy. There were just as many screens showing "the soccer" and "the tennis", and that's only because "the cricket" had an afternoon off. :-) Definitely different down under.

The Greatest Job on Earth

Here I sit in Sydney in the middle of the afternoon, on a leather chair in my apartment sipping coffee...blogging...and nursing my Wii-weary muscles. I can hear the ocean (or at least a tributary) through my open sliding glass door. And they pay me for this. Crazy times.

We arrived Monday (what happened to Sunday?) after a 14 hour flight from San Francisco. I allowed one day for the jet lag to subside before jumping behind the wheel on the right side of the car, and driving on the "wrong" side of the street. It was a little scary (mostly for the passengers and other motorists) but I'm pleased to say that no American's or Australians were harmed in the process.
